In his Gospel, Mark records Jesus withdrawing to pray on three occasions, and they’re all significant. Here in chapter 1, Jesus prays in a solitary place. In chapter 6, Jesus prays on a mountainside, and then in chapter 14, Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane. At the start, at the end, and in the middle too, Jesus prays. When things are going well, and when they aren’t, Jesus prays.
