From any viewpoint that deals in what seems acceptable to human reason, the cross will always be a scandal. That it ius folly, in our own day, purely irrelevant, comes as no surprise. ‘Shocking and ridulous’ is the natural man’s reactiopn to the cross. It transcends human cultures and is expressed every time human beings are faced with the claims of Christ crucified.
