Why do people receive God’s forgiveness but constantly live under the shadow of their failures? I know from personal experience that I used to willingly live under the guilt and shame of bad decisions from yesterday because I thought it helped me walk in humility. I would get down in the mouth and dwell on my shortcomings. I never was good at talking about it with friends. Instead, I internalised it. But as I focused on my character problems, they grew overwhelmingly large. I fed them with an unrenewed mind, and the power of agreement came upon the problem and multiplied its apparent size. The damage done in my own emotions and thought life was horrendous.
