Without this doctrine, we will
always be incompletely initiated into the kingdom of God. We will enjoy
the foundational blessing of the gospel without experiencing its highest
blessing. We will believe that we are born again and that we are children
of God, but we will lack the actual experience of sonship and daughter-
hood that enables us to cultivate a lifelong relationship of intimacy with
our Father in heaven. This should not be allowed to go on any longer,
otherwise there will always be a tendency for us to live as slaves rather
than sons.
