Paul reveals this dynamic tension of being filled with what we are full of in Colossians 2:10, where he says that through Christ we are filled with the fullness of Christ. However, in Colossians 1:9f., he prays that they may be filled with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, that they might know and serve Him better, bearing fruit and being empowered by the might of His glory. In Ephesians 1:23, Paul says that we, His body the church, are filled with the fullness of Christ, but he also prays in Ephesians 3:19 that we may be filled with the fullness of God and exhorts us in 5:18 to be filled with the Spirit.
