The way Jesus showed hospitality is unusual. According to the Gospels, he didn’t invite people round to his place; he invited himself to theirs. He was in the habit of being a guest in someone else’s home rather than a host (e.g. Luke 10:38 ). In fact he didn’t have a home into which he could invite people (Matt. 8.20; Luke 9. 58).
